Do You Pray For People Regularly...And Do They Know It?

Prayer is a Privilege

Prayer is definitely one of the most wonderful privileges for those who belong to Jesus Christ!

The sovereign God of the universe invites us to come through the writer of Hebrews, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit,
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.  Hebrews 4:16
If you struggle with prayer, I have some helpful ideas on beginning a powerful prayer life.  I would love to talk over them with you.

But for some of you, prayer is already a developed discipline.  You pray for your family.  You pray for yourself.  When someone lets you know about a prayer need, you at least pray at that time for that need.

Do the People you pray for know it?

Recently I received a call from a former pastor - the one that had baptized my younger son.  The one that took my older son fishing several times and always talked to him about Christ.  He's the pastor I called when I needed to tell my two sons that their dad had been killed in a car accident on Memorial Day 1996.

He checks in a couple of times a year and every time he says, "We pray for you and your family every day."  What a meaningful message for me!

And then there's a friend who is old enough to be my dad.  In 2006 he started calling every weekday morning (and, sometimes, weekends) and leaving me a message on my work phone with a Bible verse and a challenge to let my light shine.  Eventually those calls transitioned to my cell phone.  He is still making them. He and his wife pray for several people every day and I am blessed to be on that list.

When I think about needing prayer, I know these and a handful of others are praying for me.

Who Are You Praying For?

Who are you praying for that needs to know?  It doesn't need to be a daily call or reminder.  But what a blessing to that person!  I can guarantee that if the Lord lays it on your mind to let them know, that is when they need to know the most.

I also highly recommend a book, I'm Praying For You, by Nancy Guthrie that not only gives you scripture to pray for people going through difficult times, but also a way to communicate what you are praying for them.  I have found it so valuable!

Tell us about someone who prays for you AND let you know it OR someone you pray for regularly and how you've kept them encouraged with that.
